Boring
+
Odd =
FANTASTIC!

Remember my boring master bedroom?

All white and not very exciting?

Remember the fancy vintage drapes I got at a yard sale a week or so ago?

Now what do you think?
See the dog in the middle of the bed? This is why I need washable and bleachable. Charlie sneaks in my bed as soon as he thinks I'm not paying attention. At least he matches nicely with the room!
I LOVE IT!
Now I just need to get some more color with pictures, pillows and whatever else I can find to spiff this room up with. I bought these vintage oil paintings at a thrift store and antique store way back. They have been propped up against the wall behind the door in the extra bedroom waiting for a new home. I think they might work perfect in my new bedroom.

No frames. I'm going to have to go on the hunt for the perfect frame I guess.

Until then I'm going to cover the edges with some velvet ribbon I had.

I found this green ribbon on a pink velvet vintage dress at a thrift store. It was the belt of the dress. I cut the dress apart for the fabric and kept the belt thinking I would use that beautiful ribbon one day for something.

The day came today!

It's coming together slowly but surely. Over the last 3 years I have bought and sold furniture for this house at least 3 or 4 different times. This time I'm going to take my time and wait for the perfect pieces.

Now for Part II of Boring + Odd= Fantastic

First up in our equation, boring cottage cheese! We get this in our milk delivery every other week and usually The Hubs does pretty good with eating it all. I don't care for cottage cheese unless it's mixed with something. So here I am with 2 pints of cottage cheese and another one being delivered. The Hubs is behind on his cottage cheese consumption.
Next , meet Hershey's Cocoa, this is going to be cottage cheese's new friend! Odd?? I know your thinking.................This time she has really lost her cottonpickin mind!

I swear to you, that if this isn't the best combo you have ever had I'll buy you a brand new container of Hershey's Cocoa!

Here's my recipe. This is an old recipe that I have made often over the years. I got it from my friend Lori's mom Polly. Polly use to make these when we were kids and I loved them. I still do. I don't make them very often because I eat them all. One day after I got my very first Betty Crocker Cookbook, I got the recipe and just jotted it down in the front of my cookbook. Looking back on my notes on the side it cracks me up. NO EGGS DON'T CALL MOM AND ASK ABOUT EGGS....I even wrote this in red. Apparently I called Mom too many times and asked about the eggs........DON'T MAKE A DOUBLE BATCH, YOU DON'T HAVE A BOWL BIG ENOUGH. My 14 cup capacity mixer didn't do any better. Don't double this recipe, it's just too big.
Cream together the first 5 ingredients. It's not a pretty dough. It actually kind of looks like a big cow pie when your done mixing it up.

I made a mistake of not looking to see if I had everything before I got started mixing. Of course I didn't! I had to take a chance and hope my fix would work. It turned out fabulous!

The recipe calls for 1 Cup of Cocoa, I only had a 1/2 cup but I did have some Special Dark Cocoa. I used the Dark for the other half of cup. It was really good! It was just the right amount of dark chocolate. I'm a big dark chocolate fan so I was lovin these even more then I normally do.

Mix the dough together and chill for at least an hour. This dough freezes well. It makes a big batch so baking half and freezing half works out well. If you're a cookie dough eater, this one is hard to stay out of. Hope you get them all baked before you eat all the dough!
Roll in balls, roll in powder sugar and place on cookie sheet

Give them a little fork and bake

Wahla! Chocolate Cottage Cheese Cookies. Boring + Odd = Fantastic! This is a more creative way of using up cottage cheese then making lasagna or stuffed shells. Which is usually what I do.

Try them and let me know what you think. Any questions about the recipe just e-mail me. agirlnamedtimi@hotmail.com

Have a great day!

That batter looks very dangerous. Many a brownie never made it to the oven because they fell victim to the evil sample spoon. It is amazing we all didn't get worms. I'm definately going to have to try these :0)

Blast from the past! I havent made these in soo long. Not even sure if my younger 2 kids have ever had them. But then again, you know how much Melvin and Polly have been neglected! I'm going to make some this week. Thanks for the reminder! Lori
