It's My Birthday!

Another Trip Around The Sun

I love this song and I make sure I listen to it every morning during  Timi week.
“ one more candle and another trip around the sun”
With having a birthday right after Christmas and New Years you kind of end up doing a lot more reflecting on the past year and what you would like to do in the upcoming year… rather than celebrating your birthday.

I made a new years resolution years ago that I would NEVER make another resolution. My new way of doing the dreaded resolution would be to just think about what didn’t work out so well for me last year and maybe try to accomplish something productive to change it in the coming year.   Writing down resolutions was just setting myself up for failure.
Besides that my mom told me to NEVER make a list of what I was  gunna do because if someone finds them then they will be purvey to the fact that you accomplished NOTHING.

So I’m not a list maker. I just try to remember. Which doesn't work out so well but hey!
Friends and family who have to deal with me on a regular basis know this isn’t really such a hot idea either and are fully aware that me doing what I say I’m gunna do is a crap shoot.  50/50 chance that I’ll remember where I’m suppose to be, when I’m suppose to be there, or what I was suppose to do for you.

What I do like to do that makes me look like I have my shit somewhat together, is to make a list of what I have already done and leave it laying around. I usually add a couple things at the end of that list that I was hoping  The Hubs would do.  That way when he comes home and sees how busy I’ve been he feels a little guilty and jumps right in and helps.
Yes! Please feel free to go ahead and use that helpful tip I’ve given you ladies.
It works!
So no resolutions here, just trying something different and hoping it is time well spent.

WHOOOOAAAA!!!   BACK UP DA BUS!!  It was her birthday you ask?
Yes it was!

As most of you know Timi Week starts the week before my actual birthday. This year I snuck in a few more days but we aren’t talking about those. I’m thinkin, if I slowly add them in, pretty soon The Hubs won’t know that we are celebrating Timi Month!
In case this is your first time reading my blog this is how it works. I highly suggest you adopt this way of thinking because it’s really a concept.
Pick the week before or after your birthday for your week.  Your choice.
Then you let your friends and family know that you’re taking reservations for doing only FUN things. Going where you want to go, doing what you want to do, buying what you want to buy.
Remember this is a guilt free week for you so don’t be shy!
Then you inform your friends and family that if you have to do ANYTHING that YOU don’t want to do……….it tacks another day on to your week.
I have found that people usually start catching on after my week has gone on for about 2 or 3 weeks.  Then, the next time your birthday comes around they start doing what you want, when you want, where you want…. just to wrap it up!

Well this last week  was Timi Week and it was BUSY BUSY BUSY!

It started out with a trip to Bravern in Bellevue.  Now they don’t call this a shopping mall but……IT IS!  A high priced mall at that.

Birthday 2010
Michele (The Worlds Best Nurse) took a day off from helping those in need to help her good friend Timi out with a little celebrating.
We went to the new Niemen Marcus, walked through and touched things, gasped at prices, left finger prints on all the cases, talked to all the sales associates, and left.
Then we were off to grace some more of the over-priced- boutiques with out presence.
We did hit Anthropolgie where we enjoyed ourselves very much, and Michele purchased this very cute little tea towel for me for my birthday.

How darn cute is that?

Then Michele and I were off to Molbak’s  Home and Garden for a little more shopping and some lunch with………………

That was a good day!

The very next day I met my
Therapy Group

Anne, Jennifer, me, Laura
Now I know your wondering “what therapy group?”  What problem does she have now?
Well actually it’s laughter therapy.  When the 4 of us get together we start laughing so hard that people stare.
After a little session with this group anything that was ail’n ya is gone!
So the girls met me for a little doughnut and Diet Coke
and then much to my surprise…….
January 2010 020
Anne had contacted the creative folks at Frost and let them know it was my birthday.
Them kids down there at Frost done out did themselves!
I also got all kinds of gifts from my friends that were just lovely!

Look at those lovelies!
I love all the pinks. It was so spring like, I was wishing the rain would stop for just a little while.

Then it was off for a little more shopping
Another good day!

The next day………………
I went to lunch with Donna at

This is Wendy
She does everything.  People think she is short answered, abrasive, and sometimes down right rude. She’s not……………she’s stinkin busy!
Stop in and see her one day. Tell her Timi sent you. You won’t get a discount but I bet you get a smile out of her.
New Camera Pictures 010 This is the man that makes the magic happen on the plate
Sorry I was thinking about my Swiss Dip with homemade fries I had there.
Sorry…….back to the update.
After lunch with Donna I had to rush home and get ready for
 Tank prep
Meeting with our attorney and our neighbor’s attorney.
During the holidays we got slapped with a letter from our neighbor’s attorney that we were encroaching on his property.
Well you know we are lazy around here so there hasn’t been any encroaching going on with us. We haven’t done a thing to the property line since we moved in.
So………we had to get an attorney.
That’s all I can tell you until it’s settled but BELIEVE ME, I will have a lot to say when this is settled!
Right now it’s totally cutting in to my fun money!

Timi Week was wrapped up with
nails getting done
toes 002
Toes getting done

What a great Timi Week!
Upon reflection of this years somewhat land mark birthday, I do believe I’m going to need to get some more friends so I can have lunch out EVERYDAY!
Have a great day!

OOOOOOOOOH I’m Back!

I know!

It’s been what seems like forever since I did a post. It’s not because I’m so busy it’s more like because nothing really exciting has been happening at

The House of B’s.

Over the last week I have been doing lot of screwing around with Laura, Michele, and Donna. We have done some thrift store shopping, dollar store shopping, mall shopping, had afternoon tea at The Queen Mary, football party, and some more shopping.

Tuesday I took my mom and Princess Spoiled Brat to the airport for an unexpected trip to Florida. My uncle passed away this last weekend and they are going out to attend the services and be with my aunt.

I'm so happy they were able to do that.

6 year old Princess Spoiled Brat was so funny when I took them to the airport. She was all dressed up in a little skirt, tights, boots, dress coat, leopard print hat, gloves, and scarf. Then she had her grown up luggage that I had bought her for Christmas. No more Princess luggage for her. She is all about monograms on stuff now.

Yes, that is my doing!
I wish I would have taken my camera. She was trying to be so grown up, and acting like traveling was something she did everyday. Reading signs for where to go, pulling her luggage her self, and making sure all her prized possessions (15 thousand My Favorite Ponies) were packed safely before they took her luggage to be loaded.

I love that my mother has gotten her bitten by the travel bug early. She loves to go anywhere! I hope when she grows up she does get to travel as much as she wants!

I also went to dinner Tuesday night with my Non-Book Club friends (we use to all read the same books, now we are just friends that love to get together and visit over drinks and dinner) at Purple Café in Woodinville. I collected a couple belated birthday presents while at dinner.

It was like Timi Week started all over again.

Look what I got from Laura

This very cute Vera Bradley Hipster New Colors bag and Vera Bradley Botanica Reversible Belt. I'll be stylin for Farm Chicks!

I got this very cute and very appropriate gift from Shawn. How fabulous is this?Archipelago Monograms Soy Candle B - Bougainvillea & Tuberose

Yesterday I did a little thrift store shopping while I was suppose to be running errands.
I was so thrilled with all my finds. The Hubs has started calling my thrift store shopping Shit Shopping.

I felt like I had a very successful day if shit shopping.
Look at my finds…………….

Remember the cute little vintage handbag keeper I found a couple weeks ago? I found this great hat box that goes with it.

The colors are perfect together. The colors don't match a thing I have but they are so fabulous I had to have them. I put all my handbags and hats in them up in the top of my closet.

I love it!

Makes me feel all organized and shit!

I was so happy to come across this find. How fantabulous is this going to look in my new bathroom if it ever gets finished? I'm thinking I need to paint it black. My thought is, if I keep packing shit home for the "new " bathroom eventually The Hubs will get the hint that it needs to get done!

How dang cute is this?

I walked in to one of the little grandma operated thrift stores that is only open every 3rd Tuesday of the month with a full moon when the month ends in R.

Well I happen to hit it on the right day and this was sitting right inside the door. I walked in, picked it up and said "I'll take it!"

I have no plan for this little side table but it was just too cute to pass up.

I'm a big fabric, notions, trims, buttons and linens hoarder. I sometimes buy the oddest things just because I like the fabric or the buttons.

I found these cute cotton curtain panels. I think the fabric is so cute. Then I came across all these trims.

I'll add all this to my collection.

I saw in one of my magazines that they had taken old Ball Jars and planted paper whites in them. It was so cute. I was thinking maybe these would be cute with some hyacinthsin in them for spring.
We will see, I'm usually not so good with the follow through on planting things.

Now the find of the day that I was just giddy over.............
This cotton print blanket in all the colors of my bedroom.

I think it's going to look fabulous in there! When I get it all washed up and figure out where I'm going to put it I'll take pictures and show you have fabulous it is.

Here is a hard to find item I was excited about. It's hard to find nut crackers and picks in these parts. We use them for crab crackers and everyone is looking for them. I found these at the grandma thrift store. I'll be passing these on to Laura, she was looking for some and couldn't find them. I got a couple last week.

I stopped at a store to do a return and I just happen to get there when they were putting out some new Life is good Longsleeve Shirt for Women. I'm a huge fan of this line of clothes and everything it stands for.
I had to have this shirt!

When I got home and there was huge box on my front porch.
??????
I did'nt order anything.

So I open up the box.....

Look what was in side!
I was so excited I about wet my pants.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!

I know your probably wondering the same thing The Hubs was………
What the hell is it?

It’s a Wired Haired Fox Terrier topiary form!
Donna had it sent to me for my birthday.
It’s freakin fantastic and I’m so excited to find a place for it, get it planted and looking fantastic.
Any suggestions?
Where should I put it?
What should I plant it with?
Should I let it stand alone or should I put it in a large pot with other flowers?
This form came from Plant Play.

Check out these Topiary Airedale forms. I thought they were very cool also.
Here are some other projects I have been working............
I have always wanted to be a good sewer. I know the proper word to use would be seamstress. Not with me I just want to sew well. I love fabric, I hoard it and I need to do something with all of it. So I decided I was going to get out my sewing machine and start sewing.
I figure it's like anything if you keep practicing you will get better.
I started with this apron pattern. I figured it would be easy enough. It wasn't bad.

I have the worst time following instructions on patterns. I think this is what keeps me from trying.

I also thought my hutch needed a little spiffin up.

This is before

This is after

I was trying to use some of the items given to The Hubs and I by our Grandmothers.

Now I'm kind of thinking it just looks like a cluttered mess. This is something I'm going to have to work on again. I'm not sold on my display skills.

The Hubs went out the other day and started the chain saw up and started trying to clean up the aftermath of snow, wind and flooding.

This was a huge old growth Lilac tree in our front yard. It just broke right in half. That one made me sad. The rest of the trees and scrubs that got broke off I don't really care. They will come back. This Lilac tree I'm a little sad to see cut down. Maybe it will come out of it this spring.

Charlie and I watched a little of the clean up. Yes, I should have been out there helping.
I cleaned bathrooms (yes there is still 2 that needed cleaning) while he was out there. I hate yard work!

Have a wonderful day!

Timi Week Update
I thought I would give you a little update on how Timi week has been going.
So far FANTASTIC!

The Hubs brought me a Gerber Daisy home the other night. Which I LOVE. It looks so cute on my little table in the kitchen with my birthday cards.
I put this table in the corner of the kitchen at Christmas time because I didn't have anywhere else to put it. I'm thinking I just need to leave it here and change the table clothes out with the season along with all the junk on it. I'm kind of diggin it in it's new home.
YES.......That is sunshine you see coming through the window on the table. It's rare this time of year here in the Pacific Northwest.

Made myself a little birthday cake. I love chocolate cake with white fluffy sticky frosting. Not to mention, it just looks pretty.
The Hubs bustin in to my cake.

Remember how I said I was sure my friends were going to start bring me baked goods like the Queen gets flowers? Well they did!

Look what was waiting for me on my porch.
This little box
Where could it be from? What's in it? Who sent it?

OH MY GOD!
What a fabulous surprise and treat! A pretty box from A Dozen Eggs.
Look what was in this little box

A whole box of cute hand iced sugar cookies. They were fabulous!
Thank you Laura! They were wonderful and I loved them!

I have heard wonderful things about A Dozen Eggs from other bloggers but hadn't gotten a chance to try their cookies. I can't even begin to say enough nice things about these cookies. They are wonderful! The taste, the art work, the shop owner, it's all fabulous!
If you need to send something special to someone for a special event or just because.........you need to bookmark A Dozen Eggs so it will be at your finger tips for ordering.
You will not be disappointed!

I have been doing a little junkin over the last few days of Timi Week. Here's some of my finds. I haven't been junkin for what seems like months, so getting out and exploring my favorite thrift stores has been fun.

Love this cute butterfly cupcake pan. I have no idea what I'm going to do with this but it was cute. I also found this vintage hand mirror. Love the flowers and colors on it. When we were cracking out crab last week, we discovered we didn't really have the right tools. So I have been searching for nut crackers and pickers. I came across some and was so excited.

A blue Fire King covered casserole dish. Love this. I have a little one that my Grandmother gave me. I think I might need to start collecting this stuff. If my Grandmother gave me one before she died and I found this one for $2 at a thrift store........ I'm pretty sure THAT'S A SIGN FROM GOD!
Don't you think?

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with these but I'm drawn to black velvet and pearls like a Seagull to garbage. I had to have them. Black velvet scarf and a long strand of fake pearls.

This was my find of the day. I had been looking for one of these months ago because I had a project I wanted to do. Well I'm not sure I still want to do that project but I did find the overhead projector I needed for it.
It's like new and I picked it up for $10
I might start drawing stuff on the walls now!

I sooooooooo didn't need this either! I'm not even sure what I'm going to do with it. This vintage hat and handbag storage was in perfect condition (except for the dust) and I couldn't pass it up.
Huge red and white table cloth. Homemade, all wrapped up pretty.

I didn't get this at a junk store but I was so thrilled I had to share it. I have talked about Hobby Farm Home magazine before and how much I love it. Well the January February Hobby Farm Home issue is out and...............it had subscription forms in it! I'm soooooooo signing up.
If you were a victim of Cottage Living stopping it's publications I suggest you take a look at this magazine to replace it.
I LOVE IT!

Here is a fabulous gift I received from my 6 year old niece Princess Spoiled Brat. She loves to give me anything that has leopard print on it.
A little Whitman's Sampler in this beautiful leopard print box. After I unwrapped it she leaned in to me and whispered in my ear "you want to open it?" She was dying to see what chocolates were in it.

She also got me this cute little Charlie dog ornament. I love it!
Sunday afternoon I had dinner at Anthony's Homeport in Everett. I love this place. The food is always good, the service is always good and I can't remember ever having a bad experience here.
This time was just as fabulous!
In attendance for my birthday dinner............The WSU's, my parents, Princess Spoiled Brat, My Fake Aunt Reta (she isn't really my aunt but she could be. She's the same as family) , and of course The Hubs.
Mr. WSU had the all you can eat crab dinner they offer on Sunday nights.
It looked fabulous!
I had the halibut crab cakes. They were freakin fantastic!

WSU Laura had the Mai Mai and it was pretty darn good looking too.
You can't tell this from my crappy ass picture.

The Mr. WSU putting on his cute little bib for his crab eating.
Doesn't he look cute?
The kids made fun of him, well them and my dad so he removed it as dinner went on.

The kids enjoying my ice cream they brought me with candles at the end of the meal.
For my actual birthday on Monday The Hubs took me to Maggiano's Little Italy for dinner. We had tried to go here a couple weeks ago and couldn't get in. No problem on Monday night! It was really good. It's like Cheesecake Factory only Italian food. It was fun to go to dinner and walk through all the expensive sheshe stores at Lincoln Square in Bellevue.
So far that's it for the week. It's been pretty darn good! I'm very grateful to all my family and friends for making life just that much sweeter.
Things are starting to slow down a bit during Timi Week. I'm planning on having lunch with some girlfriends tomorrow then maybe a road trip on Saturday. If that happens it's going to be fun and I'll take lots of pictures!
Have a wonderful day!
